Yaxley Local Policing Blog – October 2018

Hello readers,

This last month has been a busy one as usual, here is what I have been up to, where I have been and what has been happening in your neighbourhood over the last four weeks.

At the beginning of the month we had several fake £50 notes being given to the shops on Landsdowne Road, Yaxley, these have been collected and sent off for testing. We have CCTV footage of those responsible and the case is still under investigation. This has been happening all over the County with small businesses being the innocent victims. If you have any information that could lead to the identity of the perpetrators, please call 101 or Crime Stoppers.

Our lovely Lollipop lady on Landsdowne Road was verbally abused and threatened by a parent she scolded for parking dangerously near the school earlier in the month which is really not acceptable. These wonderful people stand out in all weathers to provide us and our children safety crossing the road to school. They deserve our thanks, not abuse and it will not be tolerated. All abuse will be directly reported to us and the abuser will be contacted. Please set a good example for your child by acting responsibly while parking for school drop off and collection.

Once again the young men on the mini moto’s caused havoc in the villages, but thanks to many people calling in, we have now identified them and they will be dealt with in due course.

Last week, Broadway Stores had unwanted visitors in the night and they were burgled with the thieves getting away with cigarettes, alcohol and cash. Having spoken to the owners, who are remarkably calm about it, I would urge anyone with any information to call 101 or Crime Stoppers.
We have some exciting events coming up in the next few days from Halloween to Bonfire Night so here is where to find your local Bonfire and Fireworks and when –

FRIDAY 2nd November – ALCONBURY Sports and Social Club start with a mini disco at 6.30pm, fireworks at 7.30pm and music and a BBQ. (NO SPARKLERS ALLOWED).

SATURDAY 3rd November for Yaxley Scouts and Guides event at the THREE HORSESHOES with the gates opening at 6pm and the fireworks at 7pm.

SUNDAY 4th November – SAWTRY Greenfield display starts with gates open at 5.30pm, bonfire being lit at 6.30pm and fireworks at 7pm.

Whichever of these events you are attending, please put safety first. And let’s not forget the safety of our pets!

• Don’t bring your pets to a fireworks display, even a small one.
• If fireworks are being used near your home, put your pet in a safe, interior room to avoid exposure to the sound.
• Make sure your pet has an identification tag, in case it runs off during a fireworks display.
• Never shoot fireworks of any kind (consumer fireworks, sparklers, fountains, etc.) near pets.

And most of all, wrap up warm and have fun!

Thank you for your continued support,
Be safe out there,

PCSO 7230 Dawn Hodgson
